Today I noticed this sculpture in #Graz (near the bus stop Neugasse in Andritz).
It is signed with the initials "O.P.".
I'd like to document it on #WikimediaCommons and #OpenStreetMap, but I don't know anything about this object.
Do you know anything or know someone who could know?

I'm looking forward to Australia's (hopefully) upcoming orphan works scheme, so that I can legally (I think) upload letters like this one written by E.J. Ryan in 1898. They'll (likely) still not be acceptable by #WikimediaCommons (which wants 190 years of grace after the date of creation), but at least they can go elsewhere without worry. Maybe. I'm not a lawyer.

I take #CreativeCommons photographs (Mostly of #Nature) which I contribute to #WikimediaCommons and when appropriate also to #iNaturalist. I've uploaded over 20,000 photos to #Wikimedia and over 12,000 observations to #iNat (of more than 3,000 species).
I only post my own photos on this account (all of which are #CCBYSA) and make occasional posts about Wikimedia and iNat.

In #Wikimedia land, I created my first #Lua module in #WikimediaCommons: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Module:NHCP_marker_depicts_inscription
This module does all the heavy lifting for enhancing file pages of photos of #HistoricalMarkers of the #Philippines 🇵🇭 with #Wikidata items. It provides a way to point to the Wikidata item about the marker and to show the actual text inscribed in the marker. This is all done by just adding the {{NHCP marker depicts inscription}} template. 🧵 1/3

Dass Bibliothekar:innen viele Voraussetzungen dafür mitbringen, gute Wikipedianer:innen zu sein, dürfte einleuchten. Ich bin mir aber nicht sicher, wie stark diese Berufsgruppe wirklich in der Wikipedia vertreten ist. Sind viele undercover aktiv?
Nachdem es bei der #BiblioCon23 eine Arbeitssitzung einiger Wikimedians gab, war gestern in Köln endlich das 1. Treffen der Wikimedians in Bibliotheken des deutschsprachigen Raums – liebevoll organisiert von Eva Seidlmayer und Rabea Müller an der @ZBMED.
Frau @fahrenkrog und @fuzzyleapfrog wussten einiges zu berichten zum Dauerthema, wie man Leute (und besonders Frauen) zur aktiven Mitarbeit in den Wikimedia-Projekten bewegt.
Diego Hättenschwiler von der Parlamentsbibliothek der Schweiz zeigte, wie er #WikimediaCommons nutzt.
Zusammen mit @EvoMRI beschrieb ich den Datenaustausch zwischen Projekten wie #wikidata und #wikibooks mit der akademischen #Suchmaschine @base und ihrer alternativen Oberfläche @OKMaps – ein Beispiel dafür, dass #CitizenScience funktionieren kann.
Wir alle waren uns einig, dass nicht nur einzelne Bibliothekar:innen, sondern auch Bibliotheken und andere Wissensorganisationen sich stärker in Wikimedia-Projekten engagieren sollten. In diesen Zeiten brauchen die #wikipedia und ihre Schwesterprojekte unsere Hilfe, und wir alle brauchen zuverlässige kollaborative Wissensquellen.
Nächstes Jahr gibt es wieder ein Treffen der #wikimediansinbibliotheken!
PS: @acka47 war auch dabei und hat daran erinnert, dass es ein Discourse-Forum für die #Metadaten-Community gibt. Das Treffen hat ihn dazu inspiriert, ein altes Vorhaben endlich anzugehen: https://metadaten.community/t/links-in-wikipedia-artikeln-auf-wikidata-basis-automatisiert-ergaenzen/939
