There has been a huge backlash after Amazon Ring advertised its dystopian surveillance feature "Search party" (dressed up as a way to find lost dogs).
Now a $10,000 award has been offered for anyone who can find a way to run Ring doorbell cameras locally, cutting off the flow of video data to Amazon's servers.

Wyze, a chief competitor to Ring cameras wasted no time in releasing a roast of their rival's self own.
There need to be some asterisks in this burn though. To get full functionality out of your Wyze cams, you still need to send the footage through Wyze cameras. You need Wyze servers to view your live feeds, but you can indeed record straight to SD card and keep the video entirely local. Lots of people probably won't have any idea how to do that.
One of their discontinued models can function entirely with no Internet though. It's their Outdoor v2 cameras. Those cameras work off of their own base station and have a travel mode that allows you to tap into the feed directly.
I'm not sure if their other models have anything equivalent.
Unfortunately, Wyze mainly sells through Amazon, but there are plenty of second hand kits available on eBay including refurbished units directly from Wyze.
