“In der Innenstadt” / In the city center
I’m not sure what the “center” of New York is. The actual geographical center of NYC is a random street in Brooklyn. Central Park is in the middle of Manhattan, and others may think of Times Square or Grand Central Terminal. But for me, the heart of the city is its public library.

On ne déboulonnera pas de statue
Je vous aurais bien dit que le déboulonnage de statue ne me choque pas ; que l’histoire n’est pas un truc qui s’est arrêté il y a 150 ans et qui doit figer nos rues pour toujours, qu’on a des musées pour ça ; que cette histoire continue de s’écrire de nos jours, et que choisir comment on décore nos rues aujourd’hui constituera notre histoire demain ; que ce serait pas mal qu’on choisisse démocratiquement comment on veut les décorer, ces rues ; qu’il est en effet bien question de choisir notre présent, nullement d’effacer notre passé ; qu’il y a une grosse différence entre se rappeler et célèbrer ; qu’aux dernières nouvelles, chacun en France se rappelle d’ailleurs parfaitement qui est Pétain sans qu’on ait besoin de voir sa trogne dans des jardins publics ; qu’on n’a pas entendu beaucoup de protestations, à juste titre, quand on a viré les statues de Staline ou de Hussein ; que la question ne porte donc pas sur le déboulonnage mais bien sur les déboulonnés au cas par cas, et qu’on ne peut donc pas la balayer intégralement d’un revers de la main ; qu’enfin, de manière générale, à titre personnel, je ne suis pas fan des révérences et de l’idolâtrie envers qui que ce soit, vertueux ou non.
