@bkuhn @mastohost @eruwero @maybeanerd well, I merely refer to the fact that most.companies I've had to deal with won't touch #AGPLv3 because it's provisions are incompatible with #IP laws and #patents as well as #licensing.
- #GPLv3 and it's issues and the general enforcement problems got covered my @landley ....

@alcinnz @kevinrns (2/2) #patents expire at like 10 years and are ment for #inventions, while #copyright is ment for #thoughts and #ideas and can be eazier to profit from than inventions , cause you dont need to persuade buyers of your invention's effectiveness, your thoughts just need to be appealing. So, im arguing for a #copyrightexpirationdate set at maximum 25 years
Also Friday, #Commerce Secy Howard Lutnick sent a letter to Alan M. Garber, #Harvard’s president, claiming that the #university had not lived up to its obligations surrounding federally funded #patents, which are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Acc/to the letter, the agency will begin a comprehensive review of Harvard’s compliance w/federal #law.
The new pressures on Harvard come during a week when the govt had also taken significant steps to bring other schools into line with its agenda.

The UK Government has an open consultation on Standard Essential Patents underway.
@openuk will be responding to this and providing some guidance over the next few weeks for individuals and interested parties who wish to follow our approach to the response.
Very important to have the risks of these in open source flagged clearly to government as we see an increased focus on standards for global governance.
