As I'm attending a conference in Tübingen today for #findsfriday an #IceAge masterpiece that is on display at the University museum: a tiny (4.8 cm lenght) but most splendid figurine from the Swabian Jura - a #horse carved in mammoth ivory some 40,000 years ago - the oldest known sculpture of a horse.

Got out for a hike with my #horse buddy today. A good time was had by all. 🤠🐴
The old boy had three teeth pulled this week, which was pretty traumatic. Horse teeth grow continuously over their lives, until they don’t. Once enough teeth have come loose or fallen out a wild horse usually dies.
But Magic gets soaked pellets of chopped hay and alfalfa that he only has to pretend he’s chewing. He’s 26 years old now, which is kind of like a very spry and alert 90-year-old man.

Pedicure day!
Magic’s hooves look the healthiest the farrier had ever seen them, which is so gratifying. His #laminitis isn’t just being managed by our diet and exercise regime, he’s actually recovering from that disease that killed our other #horse in 2020 (and two others that lived on this property years before that). It’s workinnnng!
Spouse still mostly bedridden and now I’ve come down with a lovely virus, so I’ve informed the #horse that he’s in charge of getting the breakfast for the rest of us.
