@kim_harding @JugglingWithEggs @vfrmedia @pelle @mpjgregoire But I would definitely like to see that alongside massive investment in public transport, safe cycling infrastructure and rural broadband as well as rent controls in areas close to employment to reduce the amount of commuting that has to happen in the first place

#electriccars are a fake #greenwashing solution, like #carboncapture, or like the danish "climate NGOs" telling people to drop cows and eat pigs instead to reduce CO₂:
> At the moment, an electric car of 60 kilowatt hours (kWh) consuming 20 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers would have to cover exactly 697,612 km before it is greener than an average petrol car that consumes six liters per 100 kilometers. This is what the Autogids.be website reports.

“According to the Global Carbon Project’s latest numbers, vegetation-based CDR is currently absorbing the equivalent of about 5% of annual fossil carbon dioxide emissions, while technology-based CDR accounts for only about one-millionth of the CO2 emitted from fossil fuels”
That harnessing nature for Carbon Dioxide Removal outperforms industrial attempts at CDR by a factor of 50,000 should tell us something

In other words, #CarbonCapture is not viable, i.e., is a scam. That Canada's PM, the man who believes himself the smartest man in the room, always, has bought into.
why this #carboncapture stuff everywhere all of a sudden.
err. look, the reason why i don't want to hear it is very simple: IT. DOES. NOT. WORK.
industry has been trying to find a way to collect individual molecules of CO2 out of the air for 20 years now with 0 results. nothing. a rounding error.
there is a very well proven way to store carbon though, it is called sedimentary rock. of which the same companies are still extracting it at insane rates.
see the #SCAM?

Lecker! Aber ob das noch #NoDig ist? :thisisfine: #CCS

To the surprise of no one a new investigation shows that carbon air capture company Climeworks is unable to offset even its own operations, let alone their clients.
And mind you that this is in Iceland, where these plants run on 100% renewable electricity.

And five days later they have released an English version:

‘#Starmer says #Blair's #ClimateCrisis views are in line with government policy
Sammy Wilson (DUP) says Starmer’s net zero policy “is not only bad, it is mad”. Even Tony Blair says so, he says.
Starmer says Blair said there should be more #CarbonCapture. The government agrees. He called for more use of #AI. That is happening too, he says. And Blair said domestic targets were needed too, he says.’
