I found this Veratasium documentary on the xz Jia Tan backdoor adventure quite good and surprisingly detailed:
Shame about the #clickbait title, but I guess Veritasium wants that money and that's fine.

I just got an email from #BlueAmpAction, one of the many groups that shares my politics, asks for my money, and had (until today) probationary access to my inbox. This one went too far.
"DO YOU APPROVE OF DONALD TRUMP? [Yes/No/Unsure]…If we don’t receive your response, we may have to assume that you support Donald Trump’s anti-democracy actions."
PS: I unsubscribed. Message to BlueAmpAction: Assume what you like. Message to fellow travelers: Don't try to guilt, bully, or insult me. I'll lock you out. That is not how to build a winning coalition. I want to build a winning coalition more than any group using those tactics.

Lame title
A nice reminder from @zeldman to take a beat when thinking about AI’s impact on today’s state of the web.
“…every few years someone in an intellectual leadership position declares the web kaput…but the web is not going away. ’Cause think about it for five minutes, which is four and a half minutes longer than the authors of the previous hype cycles appear to have done.”
Update. Here are some other Bluish fundraising orgs to avoid.

From @adam_bonica: "My analysis of… #FEC [filings] reveals that, at most, $11 million of the $678 million raised [by a certain group of Dem PACS] has made its way to candidates, campaigns, or the national party committees…This represents a fundraising efficiency rate of just 1.6 percent."
Update. I just got a bullying email from another blue group, #MarchOnPac. It asks me "one last time" to click that I stand against Trump. It says "RESPONSE MISSING" twice, both in all-caps, once in boldface and once in blinking white letters inside a big red box. I unsubscribed.
I'm naming names because I want to deter this behavior. I want more effective coalition building -- much more effective coalition building. Maybe we can't recruit every voter appalled by Trump. But we can avoid unforced errors like treating potential allies as flunkies who owe clicks to every self-appointed group.

Just got my review units and damn these phones finally feel and look sooo nice IRL. That blue color is definitely the way to go
