Fun fact about #QubesOS (at least R4.3 release candidate) – seems like if I *log out* of the desktop environment session and then log back in all my stuff is still running, and GUI apps' windows show up just fine.

Which makes sense, the VMs have no reason to shut down just because KDE or whatever is not running anymore.

But still, it was a "huh!" moment when I noticed that!

Next I need to test if that's true also *between* different desktop environments (say, log out of KDE, log into Xfce). 👀

yet again I needed to download and verify a @QubesOS image, and yet again having the QubesOS official t-shirt (which has the Qubes Master Signing Key fingerprint printed on it) turned out to be very useful, actually.

I am such a nerd.

My experience is that QubesOS does not support UI scaling very well, so having a 4k screen might cause annoying issues. Especially with external screens.

I'd love to hear from anyone who is using this kind combination. :blob0w0:

Time for a new laptop, my trusty Thinkpad T490 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

It served me very well 6 years or so. My previous laptop served as my daily driver for roughly the same amount of time.

I like doing research and getting a device that I don't have to worry about for half a decade.
