I expect quite a few of us older geek folks will be effected by this?

Sain tovi sitten mailin Flickriltä, jossa he kertoivat tietomurrosta, joka kohdistui heidän käyttämäänsä sähköpostipalveluun. Tiedotteen mukaan murrossa on saattanut päätyä vääriin käsiin:
- Nimi
- Sähköpostiosoite
- IP osoite ja sijaintitiedot
- Aktiviteettihistoria

Flickr Commons is eighteen today. We started in 2008 in partnership with the Library of Congress and today we're an archive of 1.9 million digital images, all of which are available with no known copyright restrictions. Please enjoy a few random images and explore on your own using our Commons Explorer tool.

re:
> To be fair, how many of you have posted a selfie on facebook or instagram?
I can answer that with certainty: one.
I was tagged on many photos at Facebook back in the day, tho.
Sure, I was not a privacy-wise erudite, I just thought Zuck was a weirdo and meant few to no business with their company 🥸 - nostalgia sells a lot!
Don't ask me how many selfies I posted at pre-yahoo #Flickr, please.
I joined #Flickr back in 2006 and posted photos regularly for over a decade, mostly with Creative Commons so other humans could use them if they wanted.
After a few years of not posting due concerns with privacy and AI scraping, I am wondering if I should delete everything as the AI theft is only going to get worse...
While I make these, by the way, WifeBot normally seeks material for making beach rainbows. The Childbots were skipping rocks or digging to China, this time, and we all paused to admire the sky.
...And, as ever, previous #AmperSand efforts on show over on Flickr:

And yeah, I'll say it: Hooray for #Flickr! Still the best place to share and store your pictures online, I reckon.
I started a little python project to take my ~20 years of #Flickr photos, categorize them and analyze the content using #ollama locally. So far the results are pretty good. Some hallucinations, but mostly useful content.
I'd be interested in knowing if others have tried this. What information has been useful to collect? Face identification is a big area my tool needs some work on. I want to group family/friends.

Instants in the life of people who usually don't pose, landscapes of parts of the world I was in, animals, flowers.
In a month I’ll remove 4/5th of my #flickr photos to meet the free account 1,000 limit.
I have been a “pro” subscriber for 20 years, and joined 21 years ago.
I love photography probably more than drawing and painting, but I don’t visit my albums enough to justify paying €82/year (€16 increase this year!)
As I'm still trying to escape a severe Instagram/Meta burnout, I even broke a decade-long hiatus and put up a #Flickr account again. Here, I'm slowly filling up my feed chronologically, from past to present, starting with a small selection "from the archives". The process is fun and let me rediscover why I originally started to go out and shoot again. If you want to follow my ancient roots, reach out to me over there!

I’d love to see Flickr, the company, become as active on Mastodon as @flickrfdn is. Or really even just present on the Fediverse in any official capacity at all.
Relatedly, it’d be a dream if Flickr, the website/service, started integrating support for the ActivityPub protocol, like @d0n once mentioned as a possibility.
