#Selfhosting might make your whole relationship with the #fediverse feel a lot better. If you use one of the mastodon dedicated hosts they do all the management for you which is nice since mastodon is relatively big and complicated. The other masto-based forks and the completely different platforms that interoperate may also be interesting to consider. I believe no matter which #selfhosted option you choose it can be fun and can feel very empowering
