I am pondering how to approach a mending project where I only have access to one side of the fabric. Our dining room chair cushions are covered with T-shirt material (itself a mending project from 10+ years ago). One of them has finally gotten a hole, and I don't want to disassemble the whole seat. I was thinking of trying some ring-free embroidery or sashiko, but I will likely end up stabbing through cushion along with fabric. 🤔

In the fashion space, there's a big move toward "visible mending." In ceramics, there's #kintsugi.

Kona has done it again. She grabbed my gray fuzzy before I could hang it up and chewed two holes in before I could grab it back from her. (She's fast!) Used a chain stitch in a spiral with hemp yarn to fill the void. One down, one to go!
And there's the second hole mended. It came out so much better that I'm tempted to rip out the first one and re-do it. But nah.

Most hashtags are pretty obvious, you just put # in front of a topic. For example if a post is about coffee it might have the tag #Coffee
However, many popular hashtags have difficult-to-guess names, so I've started a list to help people discover them:
➡️ https://fedi.tips/fun-and-useful-hashtags-to-follow-on-mastodon-and-the-wider-fediverse
Copy-paste a hashtag into the search box in Mastodon if you want to browse or follow it.
If you have suggestions for non-obvious hashtags that should be added to the list, let me know in the replies 🙂
@FediTips if it was not added yet: #JobAlert #histodon #academicChatter #makersHour #writingCommunity #solarpunkSunday #standingStones and #standingStonesSunday #phantastikPrompts #FotoVorschlag #FiberArts #textileArts #visibleMending #thickTrunkTuesday #naturelovers #FediHire #fediHelp #FediGive #askFedi #HerStory #WomenInHistory #WomenInSTEM #indigenousPeople #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi #blackHistory
I'm glad I took enough time to baste the little square patches on, because I was absolutely out of effort by the time I got to last of the sewing. 😆 The blanket stitch took way too long, and eventually I just whipstitched the rest on. Good enough, structural integrity returned.
I've done one of four patches and somehow it's taking absolutely forever. And on a day when I don't have patience for something to take forever? And this is the simplest possible patch, even. Suboptimal.
Taking a break, then doing another one I guess.

I think, that for my emotional wellbeing, I'm going to try mending this very old pillowcase for a little bit, instead of tackling the mountain of other things I should be doing. It's one of my favourites and that's why it's falling apart, but I figure it could become a cute decorative pillow, now. I also have exactly four of these little scrap pieces left over from a quilt!
