This kind of thing is why it's so hard to do satire these days. It's hard to dream up anything more ludicrous than what reality serves up. 20 years ago Ms Dirty Politics being put in charge of our preeminent legal review body would have been a joke in a Mcphail and Gadsby sketch. Wes Streeting has failed to head off the Resident Doctors strike next week, so we can expect a further demonisation of doctors as greedy & unconcerned about patients.
While the RDs are certainly impatient both for wage restoration & NHS reform, by failing to convince them of his good will (perhaps, some would argue because he has none?) Streeting has lost a major group of allies in any reform of the health service.
It looks awfully like one more Labour own goal...
