Will ICE Ignite a Mass Strike in Minnesota?

Minnesota appears to be in gear for a mass uprising. Unions, community organizations, faith leaders, and small businesses there are calling for a statewide day of “no work (except for emergency services), no school, and no shopping” on January 23. Festering grievances swelled into a national outcry on January 7, after ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed poet and mother of three Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis while she and her wife were observing federal agents swarming her neighborhood. A week later, another federal agent shot a Latino immigrant from Venezuela in the leg.

In 2025 the central Mediterrenean
remained one of the deadliest borders
in the world. In the last 12 months at
least 1,184 people have died or are
missing while attempting to cross the
sea between Libya, Tunisia and Italy.

Libyan actors have increased their
presence not only in front of the
Libyan coast but also in international
waters, and at least 25,286 people
have been violently intercepted and

where torture, sexual violence and

#OtD 6 Dec 1907 the worst mining disaster in US history took place in West Virginia killing all but 5 of 367 workers. Grace Golden Clayton suggested to her minister that he honour all fathers at a Sunday service, which he did on 5 July 1908.
Sonora Smart Dodd attempted to establish an official equivalent to Mother's Day for fathers, which was implemented statewide in 1910. It grew from there was established as a federal holiday in 1972.

And according to USDA data from 2020 to 2022, an additional 19 percent don’t hold U.S. citizenship. Nearly 80 percent of American milk is supplied from dairies that employ immigrant labor. Consider a foreign-born dairy hand perplexed by redness in his eyes and a sore throat. He faces a dilemma: After ICE raids like “Operation Return to Sender” targeted farmworkers in California this winter, is getting to the root of his symptoms worth falling into an anti-immigrant governmental maw?

With things being what they are in the US, it certainly seems possible - even likely - that the first sustained human transmission and epidemic outbreak of H5N1 in people will occur in the terrible and crowded conditions of the concentration camps - bringing together potentially infected ag workers in squalid, unsanitary conditions.

Oregon sweet cherry growers produced a beautiful crop but are calling this year a disaster.
Due to the migrant labor shortage and problems with packing plants, their cherries may not reach the market.
