Later tonight, I’m going to start posting my reflections on this weekend just gone’s #RisingTide blockade of #Newcastle coal port, but here’s a good starting point… I was on the protest site for all of five minutes before I did this interview with Newcastle Herald. Lovely journalist and photographer to chat with.

This is what arrestee support looks like at #RisingTide in #Newcastle.
Bunyip is a Very Good Boy and lovely team-mate. And the coffee cart makes the best iced mocha on oat milk that I’ve ever had.

From 9am today at #RisingTide in #Newcastle getting ready to start today’s protestival. Music, dancing, food, talks and workshops, a flotilla of kayaks to block the coal ships, yoga, chai, and fun

Corporate social responsibility has failed us.
The only people who can rebuild the world that we want is us.
This is how we’ll do it.

While there has been a lot of coverage & discussion of the far right demonstration in London (and I accept that criticism for my own posts too), there have been other demos & counter demos around the country;

here is Ben Dickenson's account of the 'organised, noisy, stubborn kindness' in Newcastle that countered the angry toxicity of the Right.

And, unlike the London confrontation in Newcastle the Right were far outnumbered by their opposition.
