Today is Fibonacci Day. November 23 if written in MM/DD format recalls the #mathematician Leonardo Bonaccio of Pisa (c. 1170 - c. 1240 or 50) aka Fibonacci’s sequence (1,1,2,3…) where each number is the sum of the previous two. He used it to describe rabbit populations, but the sequence is commonly observed in nature, including in the spiral of a nautilus shell.🧵

I don't normally use my laptop as a laptop, but today I did. And really quickly I noticed that Nautilus/Files does not let you navigate with two finger swipes, like web browsers do.
Found this issue from 2019. Just wanted to make it a bit better known, just in case you reading this can code and want to contribute :)
Ii think this would be good for accessibility
In honor of the upcoming #minecraft update, I was inspired to draw a nautilus!
😄🦑(there’s no nautilus emoji! 🙁)

Light it up for #NautilusNight with an original Nautilus Reading Lamp by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. (NYC, USA), bronze & leaded glass, c. 1899-1902. [A later version would use an actual #nautilus shell for the shade.]

New #blog post: Setting up #Gnome (Linux) for #seniors. I've been looking into how to best set up an extremely simplified and limited #Linux for #elderly people. There don't seem to be many pre-existing efforts for this, so I figured I'd write a short blog about it.

‘About the size of a dumpling, the southern dumpling or bobtail squid are treasured photography subjects. These nocturnal creatures emerge cloaked in vivid colours as if wearing shimmering eye makeup. Usually timid, they tend to hide when seen. This one however, affectionately named Priscilla, happily lingered, posing for a photoshoot.’ Gadigal country, Sydney, New South Wales.

‘Vertical migrations are some of the most remarkable in the world. Billions of animals hide in deep waters and then travel to the surface at night to feed under the cover of darkness. This paper nautilus hitched a ride on a passing jellyfish – a truly unique and magical encounter on one of the world’s greatest vertical currents.’ Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
