Question for you!

What are the first few commands you immediately do after setting up a new Linux/BSD machine? I don't care if you do it manually or automated with Ansible. I am just curious about what you deem to be the critical first thing :)

Me:
- feed my ssh keys to /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
- immediately change /etc/ssh/sshd_config to set
 PermitRootLogin Yes,
* PubKeyAuthentication Yes,
* PasswordAuthentication No.
- reboot

Curious what you do first :)

I cannot emphasize enough how fun it is to call companies that spam on Mastodon and ask them when they plan on posting about the gay BDSM they said they were into, instead of market research spam.

For other mods, if you're having issues with 24chemicalresearch.com today, their US line is busy, but the Asia one does pick up! +91 9169162030.

https://pan.rent has been down for the last ~36 hours. Probably, this happened because of an error during an upgrade to Mastodon Glitch 4.4.0. We are back now, running version 4.5.0-alpha (👀).

Thanks to @victorvandort for dealing with this.

Even though Pan is a tiny volunteer-run instance, so many hours of downtime should never be happening. We are discussing about how to avoid such long outages in the future.
