About 5 years ago, the child nicked one of my hoodies, the one I always wore when out walking. He has pretty much lived in it since then, its a fight to get to wash it. I have never been able to find one the same.
Today in the charity shop, I found one, the same make, a darker grey though. Obviously I bought it.
The child is very happy with it and has asked me to wash it straight away tomorrow.
The child is very particular about his clothing, that good old autism thing of only being able to wear certain things or everything is wrong (I'm the same to a certain degree). So this was a huge win today.

Brands are hyping well-worn, heritage hand-me-downs as shoppers, particularly Gen Zers, shell out top dollar for items with real patina. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/10/14/brands-heritage-hand-me-downs/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #fashion #luxurygoods #clothing #recycling #barbour #levi039s
Uniqlo owner Fast Retailing reported double-digit revenue and profit growth in North America in the current fiscal year, as its U.S. expansion defied tariff volatility. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/10/09/companies/uniqlo-profit-strong/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #companies #uniqlo #fastretailing #donaldtrump #tariffs #retailers #clothing #us
This cool exhibit of Black women’s historical clothing is opening in #SanDiego soon

and the local news did a nice interview with the curator (not paywalled)
It reminded me of Patricia A. Montgomery’s series of quilted civil rights coats

When Patagonia first entered Japan, it was associated with hardcore activism or vegetarianism. Now considered a “cool” brand by many, it is looking to make recycling used items a part of its DNA. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/09/01/companies/patagonia-secondhand-climate-change/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #companies #patagonia #climatechange #environment #secondhand #clothing
Ah, so that's where the old clothes go we put in the textile recycling bin.
The ones that some company promises get "reused" or "recycled". I guess burning them on another continent counts as one of those.
Been wondering what the truth is behind the corporate copywriting.
