#BikeTooter I discovered today that #CPSC has issued a warning for certain #RadPowerBikes #ebike batteries.

Most outlets are failing to report that this warning does NOT apply to any products RPB is currently selling. It applies only to two obsolete model batteries that were sold in the past, RP-1304 and HL-RP-S1304.

The warning does NOT apply to the current generation "Safe Shield" batteries.

There is no recall, primarily because the company is bankrupt and would not be able to fulfill it.

#TIL If you update the firmware of your ebike's #Rohloff E-14 electronic shifter, make sure to also update the #Bosch software on your bike. Otherwise, you might end up with a non-responsive shifter stuck in first gear and a grey “--” symbol instead of the selected gear on your Bosch display. 😬

(Luckily, updating the Bosch software after the Rohloff firmware turned everything back to normal.)

Who needs chains when you have code? Rivian's new e-bike venture, "Also," is rolling out a modular e-bike featuring a "virtual drivetrain" – pedals connect to a generator, not the wheel. Mind. Blown. @Techaltar "Digital Drive" (or whatever you want to call bicycles where the pedals are connected to a generator) like the Rivian presented by you make most sense if they elliminate the drivetrain by using hub motors. The efficnency is actually not that bad on an E-Bike. Cyclingabout did a very in-depth overview of this technology that I can highly recommend watching!
