The central stone at Boscawan-ûn stone circle in West Penwith, Cornwall.
I found a sepia drawing pen someone had dropped inside the circle so it seemed a good idea to make it the subject of my first sketch with it.

For today’s #StandingStoneSunday here’s a photo from last October’s visit to the amazing Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis in #Scotland. This is a view of the chambered tomb which was added later after the main stones were erected. Amazingly the site was buried under two meters (six feet) of peat for several thousand years before the stones and site were rediscovered in 1857. It is a fantastic place to visit. #standingstones #stonecircles #neolithic #OhCon

A sunny visit to Frendraught stone circle in Aberdeenshire from back in 2013 for #StandingStoneSunday
The recumbent stone is sadly broken and flankers fallen.

For #StandingStoneSunday, here's a photo of the re-erected menhir of a group of 15, the Menires do Padrão, in Portugal's Algarve. There are a few scattered around, fallen and often broken. But the main one is a proud representative of these Neolithic stones!

Duddo Five Stones: Art by Bladup, lots more in our Art section #StandingStoneSunday. This circle in Northumberland lies atop a hill surrounded by farmland. One of the stones was re-erected in the 1920s and Burl believes that it is probable that they have all been re-erected at some point. Burl wrote that the direction the stones face in the circle is wrong and that some of them rock under little pressure.
The Megalithic Portal's Top 15 Stone Rows in England: Something we did in our book The Old Stones, #StandingStoneSunday was to attempt objective ratings of the best of various types of megalithic monuments to visit in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. We did this by analysing numbers of visits, and ratings left for the various sites by visitors to the Megalithic Portal.
The Migvie Stone - a Class II Pictish Stone located in St. Final’s Kirkyard, two miles north of Logie Coldstone, in Aberdeenshire. Class II stones date from the 8th and 9th centuries. 📸 My own. #StandingStoneSunday #Picts #Aberdeenshire
