My old folks want to break free from #facebook, and i'm helping them get started on the #fediverse. Yay!
Till now I've made them accounts on #mobilizon for groups and events, #loops for short-form video, and #peertube for long-form video.
Now they're getting a #mastodon account to tie it all together, and make conversation.

Question is; on which mastodon instance should they sign up, and who should they follow?
Their main interests are icelandic horses, sheep, sheep dogs / herding dogs and general small-scale animal husbandry. They live in arctic Norway, and their english language is decent.

A Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) in the Lesser & Greater Himalayas. Not an easily seen bird but not uncommon in the right habitat or season

The latin Specific name "viscivorus" translates as Mistletoe eater (also the origins of its common english name). I am yet to see it forage on Himalayan mistletoe equivalents.

If you're in the #rural US, when you pay your bills, you're likely paying a #coop, even if you don't realize it.

By landmass, most of this country's #energy distribution is serviced by rural electric cooperatives.

There will be a free, four-part training series for rural residents who want to use grassroots power to work toward greater energy #affordability, #reliability, and #sustainability.
