Revisiting my favorite album of 2020 on this beautiful Saturday morning.
This is a fantastic edition of this stellar record; coming with five bonus tracks on a second record.
I remember the first time I heard the song “Sweet”.
I thought “Oh fuck yes! That is gnarly!”
I bought the whole album based on the awesomeness of that one song, hoping the rest would be as good.
Every Bad is a visceral experience from start to finish, and it hasn’t lost any of its lustre over the past five years.
Amazing record, and Dana Margolin is fucking awesome. She’s a true rock star.

When I was a kid, and first discovered all that great Minneapolis TWIN/TONE stuff like The Replacements and Soul Asylum, it got to the point where if I saw a tape or CD on Twin/Tone, I’d buy it no questions asked.
That’s how I discovered Run Westy Run.
Turned out that Green Cat Island was the only RWR album on Twin/Tone, and although I do like the two previous ones that were on SST, this one was (and still is) my favorite.
They never got anywhere near the attention or acclaim as those other Minneapolis bands, but they had a great run, and THIS is their best album for me.
Rock, country, punk, folk… they could do it all. And Green Cat Island is the best representation of that.

My first musical offering to the fediverse! I just uploaded an album by my old band New Bloods to bandwagon.fm. We were a dancey post-punk trio with violin. New Bloods formed in Portland, Oregon in 2006 and broke up two years later, releasing one 7" on Raw Sugar Records and an LP on #KillRockStars in that time. We toured the US extensively and Western Europe once. Our biggest influences were bands like The Raincoats, ESG and The Slits.

Fire of Love is the debut album by American rock band The Gun Club, released today in 1981.
Reviews were extremely positive, praising the band's strong songwriting and performances, which combined punk rock with blues music.
