I’m not writing this to shame anyone for buying cheap books. I’ve done it myself. I’m writing it because now I understand what it means. Now I can help you understand too. These numbers are usually invisible, and invisibility only benefits the system.

@kristiedegaris Completely agree. My book is cheaper there but I recommend folks get it from the publisher, any book store that carries it, or even check it out from the library. Because I detest that soul-sucking platform and recommend folks #BoycottAmazon. 🖕🏼em and the horse it rode in on.

How do you handle gifts in a relationship?

My place is small, and honestly, I already have what I need. My partner and I agreed to skip random Amazon knick-knacks.

I’d rather get a gift on a random day: tickets to theatre, cinema, dance, invitation to a party, a book I actually want, or something handmade.

Less stuff. More meaning.

Amazon made $35b profit last year. They're celebrating by laying off 14,000 workers (a number they say will rise to 30k). This is the kind of thing that Wall Street *loves*, and this layoff comes after a string of pronouncements from Amazon CEO about how AI is going to let them fire *tons* of workers.
