All corruption, all the time in Trump world, Exhibit 64,704:

https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/17/business/trump-financial-disclosure-netflix-warner-bros

And as usual, Big Journalism tiptoes around it, using the standard "concerns" and "raises questions" hedges to avoid stating the blatantly obvious reality. Pathetic, but that's the norm.

CNN

Trump purchased up to $51 million in bonds at the end of 2025, including Netflix and Warner Bros. investments | CNN Business

President Donald Trump purchased up to $2 million in Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery investments days after the announcement of a megadeal between the two media giants, among other purchases, according to a financial disclosure from the White House, renewing questions from ethics experts around potential conflicts of interest.

CDC data confirms US is 2 months away from losing measles elimination status
Elimination status is lost if the virus spreads continuously for 12 months.

A preventable tragedy, losing control over measles… one of the most highly infectious diseases, with long term consequences some of which can be severe (deafness, male infertility, for instance).

This is how measles looks in a country that still has a functioning public health vaccine system (& we can still do better): https://www.aihw.gov.au/getmedia/a4adb0e5-6f93-49b4-80ba-ba38989c35fa/aihw-phe-236_measles_2025.pdf

✨ new on #TheFutureIsFederated 🚀

« In this age of #technofeudalism every writer who covers technology - especially resistance to #BigTech - should disclose their tech stack. Here's mine »

Basically, a love letter to #FOSS and the #Fediverse… with room for improvement (especially on the hardware front)

Absolutely! And thanks for walking the talk so thoughtfully, this so resonates & yet it's so unusual I hardly have words to think about it, which is why your example is so valuable: "« In this age of #technofeudalism every writer who covers technology - especially resistance to #BigTech - should disclose their tech stack. Here's mine »"

Ah... Leading by example!
Also... I finally understand the concept of 'tech stack'! Thanks again! 🙏

This is so staggeringly serious in its own right and also continues to be a compelling metaphor for AI, which is all ending up in the digital ocean, and we will never be able to get it out.

OMG this is, as you say, staggeringly serious: (from the abstract) “Scientists have now confirmed that the most abundant form of plastic in the Atlantic is in the form of nanoplastics, smaller than a micrometer. These particles are everywhere: in rain, rivers, and even the air. They may already be infiltrating entire ecosystems, including the human brain, and researchers say prevention—not cleanup—is our only hope.” 😐
Prevention! What hope is there of that? We’re doomed!

We had the 4th largest economy. However it's currently being wrecked by Trump's occupation.

And before that we were still paying into the red state tribute fund.

Resonates: "the red state tribute fund"

It's a 'moral hazard' - some states are poorly run knowing that better run states will bail them out... so there is no incentive to improve. 😐
