This #blocking order is very broad and concerning from the perspective of #netneutrality and open internet.

This semester I advised a very good student working in an awesome research at @HumboldtUni involving #NetNeutrality and satellite networks.
The internet satellite market is following a route of concentration under the dominance of Starlink.
Therefore, several questions regarding basic aspects of net neutrality are still under a big question mark:
- Do end--users enjoy freedom of terminal equipment used to connect to the network?
- Can satellite ISPs prohibit the usage of third-party antenna and terminal equipment for internet connection?
- Would be possible to have satellite communication protocols based on open standards?
- Would satellite ISPs be compliant with the Open Internet Regulation?
These are interesting questions!

Me realizing the dismantling of #netneutrality, #twitter safety, #facebook moderation, coming of #CambridgeAnalytica and the #Gamergate situation all happened around the same time (2011 - 2015), directly driving the downslide into racism and misogyny on the internet, while realizing the first levels of #deadinternettheory started appearing immediately after:
📣 L’ @arcep publie l’édition 2025 de son rapport sur l’état de l’internet en France : https://www.arcep.fr/actualites/actualites-et-communiques/detail/n/numerique-040725.html
💻 Ce 3e tome du rapport d’activité dresse un état des lieux des actions conduites par l’Arcep en faveur de l’ouverture, de la performance et la durabilité du réseau Internet.
📊 L’ @arcep y présente également des données inédites :

It's now up to the EU and others to hold the flag for #NetNeutrality. For the US, a federal law is now needed (or many more state laws).
