And this started me back down the alternative newswire rabbit hole that I've been circling as I think about the future of #NewEllijayTelevision and what #communityMedia needs to become in order to meet this moment.

We have the infrastructure to reboot something like the Underground Press Syndicate ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_Press_Syndicate .)

It would be easier and cheaper and more valuable today than it was in the 60s and 70s. We could have a digital and print distribution that actually spans the globe.

We could enable local news and media organizations to expand their reach well beyond their current limitations, and I'm positive that there is a way to make it self sustaining, and even profitable (What that way is, I don't know! I'm just certain that there must be one.)

"Yeah! Are you still working on that film preservation project?"

[cue 15 minutes of me geeking out about #NewEllijayTelevision

"Do you keep up with any of the old crew?"

[Cue ten minutes of me explaining that most of the old crew has been living in Ellijay and running shit up here for the last 5 years]

"Jesus, it's like you've got a little cult."

I've been thinking a lot about the current state and future of #NewEllijayTelevision

For those that aren't in the know, I run a community television station with the goal of providing an alternative to Fox, Disney, and OAN for our small town. We do news, politics, music, sitcoms, and public domain archives.

The whole thing runs on open source software, from our video editor to our video on demand platform to our website, our roku app, and our cable playout.

We're broadcasting 24 hours a day online, on roku, and on cable.

I believe that operating community media is an essential revolutionary act, and I'm passionate enough about it that I wrote a book (well, a big zine anyway https://communitymedia.network )

In spite of how important I know this work to be, it's also difficult to fund and keep running, so I'm going to be talking about that.

So now I have to figure out what this means for #AnalogRevolution and #newellijaytelevision

I expect both to continue on. Analog might be a little quiet for a while, maybe with a renewed focus on print, our magazines, and journalism.

We have 4 LPs planned for release next year and I don't expect that to change. We'll probably not add any live shows, which is disappointing. I was hoping to do 12 - 24 live shows in 26, but both of my audio engineers are leaving.
