The bike battery was not fully charged at the beginning, maybe 85%, but it was down to 45.1V (28%!!?) and almost unable to pull the trailer, max ~150W in the lower "third" of the battery charge, but torque sensor requiring more torque to get even that where I would rather spin a higher cadence (I did walk-assist for one part of the hill on Cap Hwy NB to Texas.) So 57% of 620Wh is only 350Wh and 120W assist while pulling a trailer is not quick #eBikes

@lkanies @mekkaokereke we have a lot of cars that work fine for longer trips and don't need to be replaced for a decade or more, but half of all car trips are less than 3 miles. Now how about an EV which can carry a couple people or a few kids, is easier to park, great for short trips, and costs less than $5k? We could even build them in the states. #eBikes #CargoBikes #LegalizeBikes
@mekkaokereke when — not if — the US finally allows Chinese EVs to be sold directly here again, it will destroy our local car economy, far more than when Japanese cars showed up in the 70s.
Our whole country is in denial. And it will be catastrophic when the truth arrives.

I'm picking up my minivan alternative from the bike shop today, in preparation for becoming a dad. It's a Riese and Müller Load4 75 Vario. It's a little hard to see the bike with the rain cover on, but at least my stuff is protected from the elements.
It has full suspension, and we plan to install a baby car seat adapter with its own additional suspension. The baby should have a smooth ride.

Heads-up to Californians who are shopping for a legitimate e-bike. Be careful not to be misled by a seller who may be falsely advertising or promoting other products, e.g., electric motorcycles, as e-bikes.

Aside from modern #ebikes, and possibly disc brakes, bicycle #technology stopped "innovating" for the average person during the 1990s, and actually the #quality and environmental #sustainability of #bicycles since then has been declining.
While it certainly has advantages for competitive racing, carbon fiber is not recyclable in any meaningful sense, and its benefits are so marginal for the average person that it really has no place outside of racing.
Schwester und ich haben unserer Mutter im April ein #Fahrrad übergeholfen. Ein E-Klapprad, ganz wie gewünscht. Sie war nicht begeistert vom Preis, weil "sie fährt doch nicht viel" und "das lohnt doch in ihrem Alter nicht mehr".
Denkste. Sie hat gerade zugegeben, dass sie ständig mit dem Ding unterwegs ist. Und jetz auch im Kreisel nicht mehr absteigen muss! (Denn sie kommt ja jetz mit den Füßen auf die Erde, wenn ihr wer die Vorfahrt nimmt)
Und sie fährt auch in $nächstesDorf, und schaltet am Berg dann die Unterstützung hoch und oben wieder runter, und freut sich wie weit das Ding fährt.
Im Vergleich mit meinen Fahrrädern war ihr #Klapprad nicht teuer.
Und das Ergebnis war absehbar, denn sie fährt auch nicht mehr gerne Auto (also eigentlich gar nicht).
Bonuspunkt: Sie kann das Rad mit ihrem Solarstrom aufladen, von dem sie immer nicht weiß wohin damit.
