How to switch your Windows 10 PC to Linux Mint - for free https://zdnet.com/article/how-to-switch-your-windows-10-pc-to-linux-mint-for-free/ by @sjvn
There’s still time to switch from #Windows10 to #Linux. Just saying!
Not just free, but ALL upgrades and security fixes are free too. Forever.
And it won't spy on you, or put handcuffs on your stuff or lie.
Friends made a gift for you, security experts tested it, and artistic folks added ease of use. And flair.
A bunch of folks used linux and free open Blender to make a movie, and got the OSCAR for Animated Film, and they added to Blender a little.
I decided to get Silksong. Normally I avoid proprietary software, but it is at least available DRM-free on gog.com. I found out through @gbryant. They only mention Ubuntu 24 as officially supported, but it worked fine on my Fedora 42 (on a Framework 13). I've played for a few hours. I'm not very good at this type of game, but I'll see how far I can get.

I'm looking to start a Software Composition Analysis Tools SIG in #Fedora. Any Fedora contributor is welcome to join by replying to the mailing list post.
Hey #linux users. Please boost.
I maintain (remotely) ~10 linux laptops for a client. I've used #ubuntu LTS for years because they don't need anything fancy, stability is more important that bang-up-to-dateness. But I've gone off Ubuntu because of #snaps and it increasingly pushing adverts/pro-services.
Anyone got any experience with remote admin-ing and maintaining linux laptops? Would prefer #gnome based.

What would it take for the Atomic Desktops to be the default option in Fedora?
I tried to answer that question in my talk at this year's Flock to Fedora conference.

A colleague gave me an old Macbook Pro 9.2, which was too slow even to open Safari or read emails...
After upgrading the ram from 4 to 16gb, changing the old HDD for a new SSD, installing #Fedora... I made a Zoom call while I had 20 tabs open on Firefox, with Nextcloud, Thunderbird, Telegram and Emacs open in the background.
But the thing that amazed me was the strange sense of #empowerment (?) I felt during the process.
