Rep #HakeemJeffries has highlighted the case of a 2-year-old #US #citizen known as “VML” who was detained with her mother & sister, who both lacked legal status to be in the United States, at a routine #immigration check-in in New Orleans & subsequently deported to Honduras with no meaningful #DueProcess.

As a #UScitizen “deported” to Honduras, #VML is now effectively stateless.

He condemned #Republicans for an “all-out assault on law-abiding #immigrant #families,” including #AmericanCitizens, saying it was “unconscionable, unacceptable & it’s un-American.” The #OneBigBeautifulBill includes about $175 billion for the #Trump admin to boost #immigration enforcement & border security.

#HakeemJeffries talked about #Republicans rollback of #Biden-era #CleanEnergy #TaxCredits. Jeffries pointed to a letter from several #HouseRepublicans who had asked for those credits to be preserved.

Jeffries has at times singled out members of #Congress whose seats #Democrats hope to flip next year. He has been particularly critical of Reps #DavidValadao of #California & #JuanCiscomani of #Arizona, who both have objected to the bill’s provisions at various points but have voted to advance it.
