Can someone please check my maths for me?
My insulin pens hold 300u.
I take 80u per night.
So, each pen lasts 3.75 nights.
I'm gone for 6 weeks, which is 42 nights.
That means I need to take 12 pens.
Is that right?
Can anyone aim me at any learning resource(s) for learning how to properly use a slide rule?
I'm ok with websites, books, whatever. I'd just like to learn how to use one properly, especially since I found my grandfather's which he used for a very long time.

#TIL there are scientific approaches to dice an #onion.
Personally, I was never a fan of cutting vertically and horizontally, which is the way professional chefs usually apply. Especially the horizontal cuts towards ones other hand seem pretty risky to me. That's why I started cutting onions radially. Not as sophisticated as described in the article but I'll definitely try next time.

"A large part of mathematics which became useful developed with absolutely no desire to be useful, and in a situation where nobody could possibly know in what area it would become useful; and there were no general indications that it ever would be so." – John von Neumann (1903–1957)

Today I learned that a “Geodreieck” (or “geodriehoek” in Dutch) is only used in some European countries. It’s soooo prevalent here that I never considered it might not be universally used worldwide!

Some of my wonderful colleagues at the department of #Maths at the University of #Bologna managed to open a call for 2 scholarships (10kE each) reserved to students from #Gaza . Students can apply just after enrolling online to a single exam, which is cost-free and easy to do.
It's a drop in the ocean, which still required some bureaucratic magic by them. We hope to soon follow also from other Departments (including mine)
