Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) is doing very well already, months before its perihelion - and it's not a transient outburst: "To measure the total brightness, the entire coma of 7' was used in Astrometrica," writes Michael Jäger in https://www.facebook.com/groups/227002358661288/posts/1549648323063345 where he finds "m1-10m6, the comet became about 1 magnitude brighter between August 19 and 27. This is not an outburst." This #comet could thus reach 2nd or 1st magnitude in late October / early November when it's observable in Ser, Her and Oph at a solar elongation of around 35° ... unless it decides to stay dimmer, of course.
😱 Don't panic! 😌
Astrum: Everything We Know About 3I/ATLAS, the New ‘Oumuamua
"A new visitor from beyond our solar system is hurtling towards us. Larger and older than ‘Oumuamua, it's unlike anything we've seen before. This massive, fast-moving comet, named 3I/ATLAS, is the third interstellar object ever detected and promises to reveal new secrets about the cosmos. In this video, we explore what makes this celestial traveler so unique and what mysteries it might unlock as it makes its close approach to the Sun."
Perplexity's Comet web browser is now available, but requires a $200/month Perplexity Max subscription. It's based on Google Chromium, but tightly integrated with AI features that let the browser perform actions based on prompts. https://www.engadget.com/ai/perplexitys-comet-ai-browser-is-available-now-for-200-per-month-180955616.html?src=rss#AI#AIBrowser#WebBrowsers#Perplexity#Comet

Fascinating: ESA is now preparing the Comet Interceptor mission
The spacecraft will be launched in 2029 into a parking orbit, lying in wait for a suitable target – a pristine comet from the Oort Cloud, or, unlikely but highly appealing, an interstellar object.

There is now also a CBET about the new interstellar #comet 3I/ATLAS: http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/iau/cbet/005500/CBET005578.txt - it comes with an even more precise orbit based on astrometry back to 5 June and predicts 13th magnitude with 60° elongation after perihelion in November. The current magnitude is about 17.7.

The third #interstellar object - formerly known as #A11pl3Z - has just been named 3I/ATLAS: https://minorplanetcenter.net/mpec/K25/K25N12.html ... and also C/2025 N1 (ATLAS) as it happens to be a #comet after all!
