A little while ago, I read an article from a local online paper. It was blatantly and totally written by AI, and it was obvious.
It contained a rather marked inconsistency, but I wasn't surprised: some human journalists do this too. I know well how they operate: where they don't know something, they invent. I saw it in person as a teenager.
Under the article, one of the people involved left a comment clarifying almost everything, saying, "it seems you're describing a different story".
The editorial team replied, talking in circles (with another message produced entirely by AI) and remarking that yes, some details might be imprecise as the story was "reconstructed".
When they say AI will steal jobs, perhaps they're not wrong. If you're a journalist and you do something like this, you probably aren't worthy of that job.

We don't believe any local community should have to survive without reliable local news. That's why we're hoping to work with more local news groups and help them set up their own online space, including an app.
