Folks selling Kindle books, you should know that Amazon now offers the option to allow EPUB and PDF downloads of DRM-free books.
The option is presented when adding new books to Kindle, but for existing titles you have to opt-in for each of them to allow these new file formats.
(Amazon isn’t great, but when a rare customer-friendly option arrives, please take advantage of it!)

Will I spend an hour removing DRM from all my previous Kindle purchases so I can read them on my Kobo as god intended? Hell yeah.
Big thanks to this kind human:

We were happy to consult on the book, which is free on Kindle for the next five days. https://www.amazon.com/Everybody-Has-Something-Hide-Well-Being-ebook/dp/B0D3Q8SXVR
I am in the market for a new #ereader. Is there a recommendation from my fellow nerds here?
I have a #kindle that is 15 years old (literally!). So that one has no backlighting or anything. If I trade it in, I can get 20% off a new paperwhite from amazon which makes it a kind of nice price (~144€). But I wanted to consider other manufacturers. Is the #pocketbook era worth the extra price? Would be like 60€ extra. Any others I am missing?
Any input welcome.

What's inside:
midlife crisis superpowers
no capes
chosen families

older heroines
younger heroines too
fighting the system
defying expectations
coming of age
fantasy but also science fiction
definitely hopepunk
Book 2 of the Rollover Files, built for stand alone/series entry

Well, jailbreak applied. Can't get SSH working on it yet (because it is late and I am tired).
But it is old enough that the DRM can easily be stripped off any legitimately purchased books.
So, for the few authors who insist on *only* releasing on Kindle, I can now read on my other devices.
Not bad for a night's fiddling.
Oh! And this #Kindle is so old it doesn't support 2FA.
The officially supported way to log in is:
Type email address.
Type password.
Hit submit.
Wait for an error message.
Type password123456
Yup, literally append your TOTP code to the end of the password.
If it's stupid but it works… Well, it is *still* stupid. But let's not quibble.
Trying #Kindle Unlimited for 30 days. What authors should I check out? I read #Romance including dark Romance but I also love #Fantasy and I’m not keeping Kindle Unlimited. If you can, provide links. #RomanceReaders #RomanceLandia @bookstodon
People of the Fediverse, I need your advice.
My FIL undergoes dialysis every other day. He reads on an ereader during the therapy to pass time, because he can hold the device with a single hand and it is usually lighter than a book.
He's also an eldery person, he has issues adapting to touch interfaces.
I have collected all the button based kindles I could from fleamarkets. I repair them where possible, but their batteries are all dying.
I need advice on a **button based** ereader that is either economical (risk of drop is real) so I can buy spares, or resistant enough to survive drops. #ebook #ereader #kindle #accessibility
