Use the #language #setting if you post in a different language, even occasionally. If your default is set to French, but you always post in English, every post when viewed by someone with a different interface setting will have a useless #Translate link that does nothing. French followers who don’t read English won’t get a Translate link.
You set your default language under Posting Defaults. You can override it post by post when composing a toot. You can also edit the toot later.
Kagi Translate has dialects you can select from for many of the languages, allowing you to choose specific regional variations.
Free for non-Kagi members as well! Kagi members have access to additional features and best quality translations.
Have you tried out Kagi Translate's browser extension yet? Works on Mastodon as well!
One of @kagihq ‘s absolutely best products is their translation service.
The quality is amazing, they allow you to pick multiple variations (which is particularly helpful if you actually speak the language you are translating to, to some extent), and they sound really quite natural, especially as they try to mimic the original text’s tone of voice.

Are there any services that can #translate an entire site/url other than Google?
Would love some recommendations!
