# Genital Autonomy Collective Summer GoFundMe Update: Portland Pride & InterConnect 2025
Sorry for the delay in this update, I’ve been taking a break after months of summer events.
Y’all may have seen that our board member, Perry, posted about Google trends of related search terms spiking along with our events. It’s been extremely motivating seeing objective measures of interest in the topic of genital autonomy. Our boots on the ground public outreach is clearly reaching people, and I’m extremely proud of everyone helping to make that happen! Y’alls time volunteering and generous donations have been extremely helpful.
## Portland Pride GALDEF Booth
Between **GALDEF**; The **Genital Autonomy Legal Defense & Education Fund**, **Intact Global**, and **Genital Autonomy Collective**, we had 9 volunteers helping out! It was even a bit cramped at times between the morning and evening shifts behind just one table. I had a great time meeting folks from Intact Global, and GALDEF in person again! There were many many good dogs, and I definitely did not bribe any with treats. We gave away all of the literature we printed out on Hadachek v. Oregon. The most popular was our zine: *Hadachek v. Oregon: Information about the lawsuit for LGBTQ+ People* written by T.T. Perry. This is available on our public drive folder for anyone that would like to print it. We had a small flier on foreskin restoration devices which was very popular and shows the need for accessible literature on foreskin restoration, which we’re currently working on.
I also talked to many other orgs running tables to possibly collaborate. Including:
* A local apparel company to make higher quality GAC logo shirts for future events
* Someone at OPB, Oregon Public Broadcasting, excited to bring Hadachek v. Oregon to their higher-ups
* A queer focused non-denominational church supportive of genital autonomy as an in-person location for support groups
* And, many others without concrete plans
### Hadachek v. Oregon Updates
We helped Intact Global easily collect **over 200 emails**. Ask anyone who’s collected emails before, and they’ll tell you it feels like pulling teeth. However, Oregonians show up to fight for human rights, and wanted to know how and when to support **Hadachek v. Oregon**. We ask that people come to the **Pioneer Square Courthouse** in Portland to show support on the day of the hearing. You can find out when by subscribing to the Intact Global email newsletter at the link below. You can join a Genital Autonomy Collective Discord server for updates as well!

I want to share something I'm really proud of.
In late July, I came across a 2016 article from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. It discussed intersex women, including those with XY chromosomes, but the language was outdated, reductionist, and stigmatizing. It called them "genetically men," leaned on biological determinism, and framed their lives through a medical lens that undermined their dignity.
I couldn't let that stand, so I wrote to them. I explained why the language was harmful, pointed to current science and bioethics, and asked them to take responsibility.
To their credit, they listened. They replied quickly, acknowledged my concerns, and began reviewing the article. A couple of weeks later they sent me a revised draft. They had already removed the misgendering, replaced pathologizing phrases, and shifted the framing away from chromosomes as destiny. I suggested a few more adjustments to make the language even more accurate and affirming.
At the end of August, they published the updated article in English and Danish. The harmful wording is largely gone. The framing now centers human diversity, patient-centered care, and informed consent.
It may not sound dramatic, but these changes matter. Words shape how people see themselves, how they are treated by doctors, and how society understands trans and intersex lives. Correcting language in a piece like this helps chip away at stigma that has caused harm for decades.
Here's what this looked like in practice for me: I was assertive. I named where I disagreed. I brought factual evidence. I kept the exchange in good faith. I stayed open to change and supported it when it happened.
It is one article, one institution, one moment. Little by little, contribution by contribution, we are changing things. I'm proud that I stood up and made a difference here, and I'll keep doing what I can to push for a world where our communities are seen, respected, and affirmed. 💜

But if you're concerned about #Trump & #RFK undermining #science & #medicine, the consensus is there for #transgender #healthcare, so you should be just as concerned about anti #trans rhetoric & anyone regurgitating it as you are for #antivax rhetoric. It's ALL #antiscience bullshit.

It really needs to be understood that there's #medical & #scientific consensus on this, as well as #trans people's own knowledge & experience on the subject, which is just as if not more important, as we are the sole stakeholders in our own #healthcare.

I do wish people would treat #transphobia as the serious #redflag it is, cos if someone is repeating bullshit #pseudoscience talking points from #rightwing cranks, that's just as bad as conceding to #antivax nonsense & undermining trust in #science & #medicine, alarm bells should be sounding!
