#NZPol#Youth My number one problem with the ridiculous bootcamp theatre our government has been running is this:

In none of the discourse do people seem to wonder what these young people's aspirations are, what they might want, whether this has helped them. Their agency has been stripped from them and replaced with an order to conform or go to prison. All that is reported is whether they have reoffended, as though that is what matters (rather than guaging their wellbeing)

It's a racist, harmful approach that is, quite frankly, an expensive performance for the benefit of some very out of touch and entitled wankers.

The UK will let 16 and 17-year-olds vote in general elections.

16- and 17-year-olds will be able to vote in the next UK general election.

The change marks the fulfilment of a Labour manifesto commitment and will bring UK-wide elections in line with those in Scotland and Wales.

The government highlights that young people “already contribute to society by working, paying taxes and serving in the military.”

🇺🇸Never forget: The Constitution cannot be selectively applied or disregarded when inconvenient. Rights aren’t reserved for the few—they’re guaranteed for all. History reminds us that when one group is dehumanized, others are never far behind.

Your voice matters. Don’t let silence win. Know your rights, and protect the rights of those you serve…

👉🏽 As Coach Wilder puts it:
“The only way you can protect people is understanding that the Constitution has a role. And we have to rely on that. And we can’t cherry-pick it.”

The Caribbean climate justice agenda: activities and opportunities for youth, women, and more – Petchary’s Blog

As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) wraps up its big conference of Heads of Government in Montego Bay this week, it’s safe to say that the issue of climate change – or should I say, crisis – is very much up there at the top of the agenda. But how to get involved in finding the solutions?

Here are a few things happening. Firstly, please note in your diary that the Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference will take place in Kingston from September 10 – 12, 2025. If you wish to attend in person, please RSVP by July 12. You will also be able to participate online. It’s open to all Caribbean Nationals. Limited spots available, so register today and contact them by email for further information. This is a partnership between the Caribbean Youth Climate Council and the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP.

The theme is: “Securing our Planet for Current and Future Generations.”

Youth must always be included in all discussions on climate change!

You might like to know about several other activities, highlighted by Climate Tracker Caribbean. – by the way, take a look at their website for some thought-provoking stories on climate justice…
