A Toronto la Micro Computer Machines presenta l’MCM/70, tra i primi personal computer, ideato dal professore Mers Kutt con Intel. Uscito nel 1974, fu adottato da Nasa, Chevron e dall’esercito USA, ma la mancanza di fondi ne decretò il declino di fronte a Commodore PET e Apple II. Nel 2011 il libro di Zbigniew Stachniak ne ha riportato alla luce la storia.

La RCA esce dal mercato dei computer dopo perdite per 490 milioni di dollari, chiudendo la divisione RCA-CSD. Faceva parte dei “Sette Nani” (Honeywell, Univac, Burroughs, NCR, GE e CDC) che tentarono invano di sfidare IBM. Lo Spectra 70/45, rivale del System/360, non riuscì a garantire piena compatibilità software. IBM restò dominante e i Nani sparirono dal mainframe.

I think the same thing that just happened with #Commodore should also happen with #NeXT. A representative of "the community" should acquire all rights to NeXT and revive the company. 😃
