10 years and a few days ago, I was running a DIY Synth workshop with STM32F7 dev boards in our kitchen in North London... Still have ~10 of these boards.

Is there, like, a javascript library for manipulating midi files?

I was going to write a format converter in Python, but then I thought it would be a lot more useful to more organ grinders if it could run in a web page.

Webmidi js is super cool, but, like only does a small part of what i need from a midi library.

Petite demande aux mastomusiciens : je cherche un logiciel gratuit simple (idéalement en ligne) pour écrire une partition et l'exporter en MIDI, à destination d'une personne totalement non-geek.
Je ne tombe que sur des usines à gaz, des trucs en ligne de commande ou des trucs blindés d'IA, et les moteurs de recherche sont décidément décédés en 2025.

Des idées ?

I found another Dice Waltz program, this time for the Atari ST (The Dice Waltz, by Chris Earnshaw). Its user interface is quirky, even by the standard of programs written in GfA BASIC. I couldn't get the soundchip output to record at the right speed, but it can generate MIDI files, so I overlaid that on a screenshot

Midi questions:

Midi is a serial connection and there exists a standard for sending it over TRS.

1. Do any phones support sending MIDI over the headphone jack or via a standard USB C to Headphone adaptor?

2. I assume midi over Bluetooth or midi over WiFi have some sort of documentation?

3. Is there an android app that will send midi in real time over the headphone jack or over Bluetooth or over WiFi (that I could use to play a busking organ)?

4. Can a phone with USB C be a usb host for a midi device, like can I plug my phone into a drum machine and output note-ons?

I propose the SEAPAP: Simple Email AI Prompt Articulation Protocol. It details how to send a prompt from one email client to another such that the receiver can construct an email.

This makes for a very efficient means of transfer of intent, but like MIDI before it for sound, the final results will depend on the fidelity of the model installed on the receiver.

Most will rely on rendering, but some will simply read the "MIDI" itself and do their own thing.

Here's an example of me using the #WebGPU renderer to animate a 3D piano with MIDI keyboard input.

The piano is one of my #3D models I created in Blender and exported as OBJ. They're animated by updating the mesh's position in 3D space based on #MIDI input.

As always, this is open source on my #GitHub.

If I wanted to do some #midi stuff in Rust, what should I look at?
