Spent our last session talking about “am I being a cultist” with my new found Buddhism obsession. (Therapist says no). I had to go there because of my life long habit of “wanting structure but also wanna stick it to the man”. My mind is good at gymnastics #therapy #MentalHealth #personal

It’s true #Trump started it all when, in his first presidency, he tried to bend this venerable #law enforcement agency for his own #personal & #political #gain. Trump frequently failed in that effort, but, as learned after 2 years of reporting, all the while he was quietly succeeding in destabilizing the institution’s foundations — & weakening its resolve with his brand of bare-knuckle attacks. That imperiled the rule of law that has long assured all Americans impartial & fair #justice.

Made something of an expensive mistake last night dropping a big pot on the induction hob. The cost of repair is about the same as a new unit so I’ve ordered one on AO with measurements from the old and new data sheets and I just hope that it can be swapped like-for-like by the AO installer without involving a kitchen fitter.

Apparently that wasn’t enough.
In April, the #FCC sent a a blistering letter to #Disney CEO #BobIger saying it suspected the company was so thoroughly “infected” with “invidious” practices *favoring* *minorities* that it had no choice but to open an *investigation*.
Among other questions, the probe sought to determine whether Disney had really ended policies designed to ensure characters in its shows & its hiring practices favored “underrepresented groups.”
Meanwhile, a #Disney deal struck in January to buy a stake in the streaming service #FuboTV fell under scrutiny, too, with several reports that the #DOJ was investigating possible #antitrust violations.
The #FTC also launched a probe into whether Disney broke rules by gathering #personal #data from #children watching its videos without permission from parents. Disney settled the case earlier this month by paying $10M & agreeing to change its practices.

Incluso si crees que una "IA" puede #escribir mejor que tú, ninguna de ellas –ni nadie más, para el caso: humano o no– puede quitarte la posibilidad de escribir como quien eres.
Y tampoco, por cierto, la de tratar de escribir tan bien como te sea posible. Si buscas objetivos, prueba con esos: escribir mejor de lo que ya has escrito; hacer lo que solamente tú puedes hacer.

Approximately 8000 women worked at #BletchleyPark during WW2.
One codebreaker I can quickly look up is #JaneFawcett MBE.
“In 1940, at the age of 18, she was interviewed by senior #codebreaker#StuartMilnerBarry, and joined the secret codebreaking project at Bletchley Park. She joined a group of women known as the "#Debs of Bletchley Park",
… “Hughes was assigned to Hut 6 a "Decoding Room" of women only”.
“On 25 May 1941, Hughes and several other women were briefed on the search for the German battleship #Bismarck. Shortly thereafter, she decoded a message referring to the Bismarck that detailed its current position and destination in France.“
“Her work did not come to light until decades later, during the 1990s, as it had been classified under Britain's Official Secrets Act”.
Jane passed away in 2016.

Young’uns forget after WW2 a fair percentage of the male population in the UK were trained to kill. The rest including women served in many public and military jobs including code breaking.
This is of course, conjecture but Phyllis seems quite adept at putting the machine to work crunching numbers and knows discrete electronics. The difference between single and dual potentiometers, capacitors.
A tell is “electronic gadget.”
According to the YT comments, Phyllis passed away in 2020. It’s conceivable Phyllis was almost 60 here. Easily old enough to have lived through WW2.
