Looking at the recent pile of books, I realized I hadn’t posted titles in a while. Some are from the Most Anticipated African Authors list of the year. I like to scour that one for authors I don’t already know. Normally, I’m mostly a sci-fi, speculative fiction reader but I do branch out to keep up with diverse authors from all over the world. I picked up a couple of books I didn’t like, they aren’t listed. Here are the ones I liked. 1/8

i joined Twitter in April of 2007 at a SXSW. actually, a whole slew of us Black bloggers joined Twitter that day after our panel, Blogging While Black. that is, by the way, the real origin story of #Blacktwitter.

anyways, i joined that year but the blogosphere was still going strong. some people considered it a passing fad. others like me saw it as an API that you plugged into publishing platforms, not the platform itself.

actually, some of us wondered if Blogger was going to be twittered… 🧵

They have to be there month in and month out, being in the community and working FOR the community, not just for themselves. His campaign thanked Working Families Party because that is what they do. I hope the young people see there is a way to take over the Democratic party . Do the work. Follow the path. 2/2

Mamdani gave a great speech last night. He, his campaign manager, and his army of volunteers did a great job talking to the people of NY. But it wasn't his speech that caught my attention. It was his manager's comment that they worked on getting to that point for 8 years. This supports my argument that if people outside the party want to make inroads they have to do the community building work first! 1/2

They have her recording of Trouble" with her band The Resurrectors, on their splash page. It's perfect for some enthusiastic motivation in today's times.

Black and Brown folks we don’t need to get caught up in anyone’s protocol & platform wars, life is already tough for us and there’s minimal spaces for us as it is. We should be turning #BlackTwitter into the combined spaces of #ATProto #ActivityPub . We need safe, fun, funny, creative etc spaces for our people. Black and Brown owned digital spaces! Where users can determine their own experiences without being dragged one way or the other regarding algorithms, full text search, quote posts, PM harassment etc I look forward to that day and look forward to contributing to that. #Blacklove #Blackpower #Tech #BlackFediverse
