🇺🇸🇺🇦 A few days ago, on my last day volunteering with Chervona Kalyna in #Kharkiv, I was honored to receive a certificate of gratitude from the foundation’s head, Liudmyla Katkova.
Before arriving, I had sent CAT 7 tourniquets⛑️ from the U.S. to support those on the frontline, and helped connect the foundation with an organization donating pet food.🐾
✨I’m grateful for the opportunity and the new friendships formed.

🕯️ Personal Update | Honoring My Fallen Friend at Kyiv’s Independence Square 🇺🇦
Today I visited Oleg Salynk, age 28, from #Kherson —a #humanitarian volunteer who embodied courage, compassion, and an unforgettable sense of humor.
Oleg welcomed me during both of my trips to Kherson in 2023 and 2024. He always said to me with a smile, “It’s ok, bro,” as we practiced translating English and Ukrainian.
🙏🏽 I would’ve traveled here for no other reason than to honor him.

After volunteering, I paid my respects to the defenders in Independence and Mykhailivska Squares 🕯️. I then took a walk and stumbled upon The Landscape Alley Parks, where a giant mosaic #cat made me smile.🐱
➡️ But more importantly, I saw Ukrainians from all walks of #life going about their day as normally as possible—a testament to their refusal to cower in the face of Russian aggression.
✨Tomorrow, I'll begin a new day of #humanitarian volunteering.

Today I will volunteer with Kitty Pechersk. While they create camouflage nets for frontline defenders and deliver #humanitarian aid, their community lives with the constant threat of attacks on homes, schools, and other civilian infrastructure.
#Life goes on, but it's not normal. Ukrainians are resilient, and they need our unwavering support to end this war.
United, we can send a message of unwavering hope and steadfast solidarity.

It’s my first day of humanitarian volunteering in #Odesa. I got up early to catch the sunrise before the work begins.
In every city and village I visit, I see Ukrainians striving to live with dignity and normalcy—even under daily attacks. That is a profound form of defiance, a refusal to surrender to terrorism. But let’s be clear: Russia’s targeting of civilians is a grave violation of international law. The cost is real. The trauma is daily.

💪🏾 Today was my last workout session at the #Fitness Court in Malden before heading out in a few days on my sixth #humanitarian volunteer trip. I hope these efforts, however small they may seem, carry a message of resilience and unity to the people of Ukraine.

The father of 5 fled to Pakistan with his family in 2021. There, Zia applied for an #SIV, while his youngest brother—already a US citizen—applied for #humanitarian parole on Zia’s behalf.
In April 2024, the #State Dept approved Zia’s SIV application, acc/to a letter from the US Embassy in Kabul. He also received humanitarian parole that year, which temporarily granted him & his family entry into the #US.
Zia worked as an #interpreter & cultural adviser at Camp Mike Spann in Mazar-e Sharif, #Afghanistan, from about 2005 until 2009, Petersen, his attorney, told The Post.
Because of his work, Zia “suffered & continues to suffer threats to the life & property of himself & his family members by enemy forces & criminal elements,” says a recommendation letter from a supervisor who oversaw Zia’s interpreter work.
