Fuck You, I Won't Use Tailwind.
「 Tailwind is a tool. It's not a religion or a way of life. Get off your high horse and stop obsessing over a fucking hammer, I promise your life is not full of nails.
Just git gud at CSS. We believe in you 」

“If you are enamored by atomic CSS and Tailwind, there’s a good chance you’re not taking full advantage of both CSS and HTML. In other words, you think you know CSS and HTML, but you don’t.”

Olive CSS (v0.1.5) a Lisp powered utility class vanilla CSS framework that allows opinionated "Tailwind-like" syntax and custom optimized production builds - no JavaScript (all Guile Scheme λ )
https://codeberg.org/jjba23/olive-css
You can use this in any web project, it is vanilla CSS, and it serves as a kind-of drop-in replacement for Tailwind so the syntax is mostly transferrable.

Nuxt is so dang amazing, I love it.
I've built 3 production websites with it so far this year ✨

The new Pixelfed UI will be the 4th 😉

Expo 54 + React Native 81 bring so many performance improvements 🚀
The new Loops app I'm writing from scratch is much more performant and responsive as a result.
While I can take some parts from the existing Loops app, I'm focused on performance and a better dev experience (bye tamagui, hello twrnc/tailwind)
I look forward to sharing more details soon, and releasing a new build that supports Loops new oAuth so everyone can enjoy from any Loops server ✨
@zzt the only one of the projects discussed in this thread that's breached my bubble has been #tailwind and it being #fashware explains so much about it.
like how people en masse insist on using it even after it's been demonstrated terrible and pointless, and simply refuse to engage with any argument that hasn't been drilled into their heads already (by who the fuck?!?!)
also publicly coordinating with DHH on Twitter are the guy who started Tailwind (terrible Fisher-Price CSS) Adam Wathan and the leader of the Ladybird web browser Andreas Kling; both are actively brainstorming with DHH ways to make their projects more hostile to non-fascists. while the Tailwind guy turning fash might be surprising, Andreas has a bunch of fash shit on his Twitter and a history.
now's maybe the time to stop advocating for that unserious non-working web browser

Yesterday I learned: there is a element in HTML and how to fix it so it doesn't look totally awful when using Tailwind: https://blog.nytsoi.net/2025/08/31/tailwind-meter
Tailwind is the Worst of All Worlds, https://colton.dev/blog/tailwind-is-the-worst-of-all-worlds/.
The article explains why Tailwind (https://tailwindcss.com/) is based on and encourages bad practices, which creates more maintenance burden and larger bundles. The article also explains why Tailwind met success and what other better tools should learn from that.
(For the record I love CSS.)
