We just cancelled our #Duolingo family plan. We don't want to support firing workers and replacing them with #AI. I've been using it daily for almost four years, and it's something we did as a family. It really feels like losing a friend.

Good thing they heavily invested in human curated curses with a lot of human touch.

I'm thinking about making a federated learning management system with #activitypub. Possibly something like a lightweight #moodle or Microsoft Learn, but more likely something like #Duolingo. You'd craft tiny courses on your instance and learners would use their Mastodon accounts. Would this be a bad idea for some reason I haven't thought about yet?
