After reading the books by Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, then getting 3/4 through Ozzy’s book, I learned Ozzy has at least two more books and Sharon has a couple.

#NowPlaying a truly strange, brutal (but also sometimes gentle) record, the new LP 'Under a Gilded Sun' by Atlanta, Georgia's MALEVICH. They claim to make 'weird, heavy music for the end of the world', and.. indeed. This is like, blackened sludge? It's rad. Dissonant but coherent, chaotic but serene. So many textures and dynamics. Riffs, weirdness, everything. Maybe ffo Sumac, Sunrot, And They Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, etc. For those of you looking for cool black metal-adjacent stuff this year.

Only dug up the factoid that Heezer and Raider are gonna play @ Krypt. But I wasn’t overly excited by either of those, based on tracks available online. :-/

The cover of Black Sabbath's 1970 debut album was shot at Mapledurham Watermill, Oxfordshire. To get the right light, the shoot was conducted at 4.00 am. Contrary to popular belief, the hooded figure is not Ozzy Osbourne, but an 18-year-old female model. The model was chosen for her short stature, to make her look overwhelmed by the eerie landscape. To enhance the photo's uncanny feel, a smoke machine was used and the shot was taken with film used for aerial photographs, which gave the photo its pinkish light. The film was also boiled then frozen to make the image grainier. Props included a stuffed crow - named Yorick - who appears on the back cover and, apparently, a live black cat.
