For an upcoming blog post, I just listened to Paradise Lost's 10th album (the first I had ever heard from them) directly followed by their 2nd album, and holy moly what a difference in sound!

Any #gigs that count as #rock or #punk on Saturday 30th in #Tallinn? Any new small venues somewhere with surprising local #bands?

Only dug up the factoid that Heezer and Raider are gonna play @ Krypt. But I wasn’t overly excited by either of those, based on tracks available online. :-/

Gonna meet a friend in Tallinn, and he'd like to see some live #music. He prefers it loud, I'd be happy w/more sophisticated styles too... but whatever.

(In any case, no #metal, plz.)

The cover of Black Sabbath's 1970 debut album was shot at Mapledurham Watermill, Oxfordshire. To get the right light, the shoot was conducted at 4.00 am. Contrary to popular belief, the hooded figure is not Ozzy Osbourne, but an 18-year-old female model. The model was chosen for her short stature, to make her look overwhelmed by the eerie landscape. To enhance the photo's uncanny feel, a smoke machine was used and the shot was taken with film used for aerial photographs, which gave the photo its pinkish light. The film was also boiled then frozen to make the image grainier. Props included a stuffed crow - named Yorick - who appears on the back cover and, apparently, a live black cat. The photographer swears the model is holding the cat though the model says she has no recollection of this. #music #metal #gothic #weird #history #folklore #art #photography #psychogeography

Bloodywood is a band from New Delhi. They blend metal with traditional Indian folk instruments. It sounds hokey, but it’s done brilliantly.

This video for “Tadka” is badass. It’s a song about cooking, family, and respect for women/elders. It’s everything you wouldn’t expect from a metal song.

But it slays. If you love metal, get ready to move your body.
