Is it #octopus time? Always. This great pacific octopus unspooled its 1.5 metres+ and bimbled with me for about 15 minutes two nights ago in Hood Canal. You can see me furiously back-finning to keep it in frame, but the next minute or so are it close-touching the macro dome port (below the #gopro) and my dry gloves. And of course, I'm sitting here thinking about #ethnomusicology and various pedagogies around the world now. So I had a reply from Octopus for my complaint about not paying for the electricity I exported for the first 3 months after my solar installation while waiting for the export tariff to be set up.
They replied saying that they couldn't possibly pay me for it.
I asked if I could take that as a formal deadlock letter and take it to the Ombudsman.
They then said "Oh, OK then, we'll pay you for it as a gesture of goodwill".
Big companies always try it on

So about 3 months after I had my solar panels installed, Octopus finally set up an export tariff so they could pay me for any excess I send back to the grid.
Nicely timed so that we've missed the time of year when I was actually sending a lot of excess electricity back to the grid.
I've been in touch to see if they'll credit me for the electricity I exported before the export tariff was set up, and they've said no.
Formal complaint made this morning. Let's see what happens.

Congratulations on the new heat pump! A colleague of mine had #Octopus install one for her earlier this year, and she's delighted with it. We went with #GoodEnergy because Octopus wasn't able to help us, but I'm convinced Octopus would've been better value if our house had been suitable.
We're not yet ready to buy a battery — I want to go through a winter with the new heat pumps so that I know how much capacity to buy — but I've heard good things about #Victron. You might give them a look. They seem to be a bit more expensive than canned systems like #Powerwall, but a lot more flexible.
