Robin Sullivan, wife and business partner of fantasy author Michael Sullivan, does a good job of explaining the new system and showing how bad it will be for authors not in the "Plus" program. Other authors, I actually have enough audio to make a little Sightless Scribbles starter pack audiobook of sorts. Thing is, I am literally the worst with math, so if I tried to do any royalties, I would be in court quicker than you can blink because of my inadequate math skills, so what audiobook platform is everybody using? I don’t want to go with ACX because #Audible hates creatives and is actively trying to harm multiple creators, so does anyone have any other suggestions? Is there a platform that would handle these royalty payouts for me? I’m also not even sure if narrators get royalties or not? I paid for all of these narrations in the past. Been working on de-Amazon-ing... now I'm wondering what Audible alternatives there are.

The library is out because I listen to books while I fall sleep and it can take me a month+ to actually get thru. Needs to be a format with like two month loan periods or somewhere I can get books for a reasonable price.

I know Kobo sells audiobooks, but I wanna know what folks are using and where they're getting books.

Doing business with #JeffBezos has just become too unpalatable. That and @pluralistic has taught me to reject DRM and he helped me find https://Libro.fm - I signed up for a membership and have already bought and pre-ordered 6 new books over there.

If you haven’t done this yet, I highly recommend you install Libation and liberate your audiobooks from Audible.

It’s been a month since I first learned of this fantastic, free, libre, open-source project from u/darchangel(not sure if they’re on the fediverse). And unlike so many other OSS projects this one is dead simple to use, accessible to the less technical, and very well documented.

I was able to download my entire Audible audiobook library, with included documents, in just minutes.
