Seafood NZ, the industry body that represents New Zealand’s commercial fishing interests, put out one of the most mind-bogglingly tone deaf press releases recently in response to the new David Attenborough documentary, ‘Ocean’.

Their response to the documentary, which highlights the dangers posed by bottom trawling and industrial fishing, was to claim that the way that New Zealand performs bottom trawling would somehow make for a great birthday present for Sir David.

The Seafood NZ responses presented in this video are REAL QUOTES from THEIR OWN press release. THE CONTENT LITERALLY WRITES ITSELF!

Food idea:

Seafood version of biscuits and gravy by lacing the biscuits with garlic & parmigiano reggiano and swapping the sausage gravy for a rich lobster bisque or crawfish meat chowder.

I think my problem with this representation is that it's what I've always expected photo albums or similar structures would be like. A list is a little different.

@evan
A set of items with labels/hashtags could do this maybe ? Each item (e.g. a review of a Chinese Seafood restaurant in Brussels) is labeled ( #chinese #restaurant #seafood #brussels) and then with a cross-search people can build their own list of Chinese restaurants in Brussels, or a list of seafood restaurants in Belgium, etc., like, a database of labeled items ? I'm afraid what I say is obvious or stupid but, well...

China will allow the import of some seafood products from Japan to resume, a partial lifting of the blanket ban imposed following Tokyo’s release of wastewater from a wrecked nuclear power plant in 2023. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/06/30/china-seafood-imports-japan/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #seafood #china #fukushimano1 #fish #fishing #trade #chinajapanrelations
