Today is my first official day of professional #retirement ,at the age of 67: arrival by #train in #Domodossola, in the #Italian#Alps , to start tomorrow morning a new #bikepacking adventure of over 1000 km on my #Brompton folding #bike (C-Line 6 gears). I'll keep you posted.

A glacier side moraine with an almost imperceptible path on its ridge is leading into a sea of ice, rocks and snow in the not so far distance. The massive glacier is just a few dozen meters below from where the picture was taken. It flows & drops down from the peaks in the back (all ~4000m and around 1300m higher up for my position), forming a maze of large seracs on the way. Sunny day with blue sky and some wispy clouds.

Questo venerdì scopriremo un segreto gelosamente custodito nella valle del Cervino: il percorso didattico nel bosco di protezione & la Finestra di Liès.
Durante il sopralluogo ho trovato i sentieri in ottimo stato e ho fatto la tradizionale raccolta dei fazzoletti di carta: https://gian.mario.navillod.it/la-raccolta-cerimoniale-dei-fazzoletti-usati/
Una brezza freschissima usciva dalla Finestra di Liès: da provare almeno una volta nella vita.

An early morning alone on the banks of the (still young) Isar river some weeks ago... Really more "flow" rather than #WaterfallWednesday, but I just absolutely cherish places and moments like this & feeling so privileged being able to experience these after decades of living in large cities... (each time also a reminder how much we stand to lose...)

Short 18second, 270° video panorama of a beautiful large & deep alpine valley from around 800m above. The ground drops off steeply directly next to the narrow path (already on a slope itself). The mountains on the other side are up to ~2700m above sea level and ~1600m above the valley floor with green & rocky slopes, forest in the lower sections. A small road is leading along the last houses towards the end of the valley (the border pass is briefly visible between 12-14 seconds). Semi-cloudy blue sky, with some clouds nestled around the peaks and their shadows creating extra drama...

Respiro a pieni polmoni l'aria sottile dell'alta montagna, mi abbandono fiducioso all'abbraccio del bosco, scopro i segreti della vecchia guida della Valle del Cervino. Senza fatica, con il sorriso sulle labbra.
