Une guitare Höfner Verithin des années 1960 à restaurer. Hâte de pouvoir la montrer à mon luthier préféré pour avoir une idée des travaux nécessaires pour la rendre à nouveau jouable !

OK, dis- or encourage me: Local shop has a really good deal on an interesting little tube amp & I could easily slip by for a butcher's on my way home from work - but I don't need an amp, I don't have much room & I'm perfectly happy with the one I have...
On the other hand, I can afford it, especially at half-price (used) & it's reviewed really well.
Halp.
🤣🎸😂
Look I did an #ambient
I needed a break tonight so I finally got around to learning how the mxr layers pedal works, and had a fun time playing around once I learned how to use it.
It's a very cool one-trick pony. The way I put it to my friend: I probably wouldn't be particularly excited to see a whole show of someone playing one of these (prove me wrong), but it's really got a vibe, and gets you to play something you otherwise wouldn't.

Two years ago today, Brazilian guitarist and luthier Sergio Abreu died. He has probably built a thousand guitars in his life (my estimation based on some forum posts). Mine is #270. I remember reading an interview in which he said the humidity in Rio de Janeiro was an issue, especially when shipping his guitars to Europe. The Brazilian rosewood he used could dry out and crack. And yes, #270 has a cracked back as well, but still sounds as great as ever :)

Are there any #guitar and #tubeamp afficionadoes in the Fediverse?
My Peavey Classic 30 starts acting up after 15 years now. When I turn the main power switch off, there is a swelling noise, like a hissing or white noise, ending with a loud crack, then the amp turns off. To me this sounds like aging capacitors, any second opinions? Would give it to an amp tech anyways, as I'm not touching the power supply of a tube amp (literally).

My humble attempt to play "Waiting for 22" by Queensrÿche, from that masterpiece called "Operation Mindcrime". I've always loved that luscious arpeggio and the intertwined guitars... but you don't want to know how many takes I had to record to get it (mostly) right 😁

Memories of a new year's resolution echo and fade in to glacially slow soundscapes made from generative ambient synth and improvised guitar and flute.
The Remember Glaciers performance on a very stormy December night in Brighton is now available for download from #bandcamp here: https://rememberglaciers.bandcamp.com/track/2025-12-18-ice-core-sermersuaq-2019
I hope you enjoy the music and have a very happy new year!

Another old 35mm scanned gear pic. Here’s my 1970’s Fender MusicMaster. Bought with original case at Tempo Trend music store in Victoria from the store owner Martin for $275 in 1996. The previous owner installed a humbucker in the neck position. Actually did a decent job. #music #guitar #gearsquad
Hi! I'm James and I play guitar. My main music project has been Strange Textures, a podcast of improvised guitar recorded live each week. Lots more about that on my website.
Abstract and impressionist, it changes. It's me, recorded in the moment and not repeated, including the happy accidents*. It often has a soothing effect and is meant to be listened to, but can work in the background.
I've been using Mastodon for a couple of years, took a break and decided to start from scratch on a different instance because I think it's time for a change.
*all the mistakes
