I stumbled across this article while searching for informations about the future of some X11 window managers. probonopd created a good article about the differences between Wayland and X11 and the problems with Wayland (which perhaps could be fixed in the future)
Good to see that XLibre forked the X11 server so projects depending on X11 can go on further.

startx isn't working, it says it can't compile a keymap. The only recent change to the computer was updating node.js, and df -h
shows my root directory is at 100%. It said I had 27/28G used but it still showed up as 100%. I deleted the previous version of node, and now it says 26/28G and still 100%. I killed all processes marked as deleted. I tried to update apt in case that was the problem, and it said I don't have enough space.
So what are the best places to delete shit?
df -i
shows the same directory at 30 something % so it's not an inode problem. There had been processes running on deleted files, but killing them made no difference. I'm really hoping the error isn't just "my hard drive is crapping out" because I don't think that's a problem I can afford to fix 😭

I didn’t plan to write about Wayland yet. But Xorg is dying — not eventually, but now. GNOME’s dropping X11 support. RHEL already removed it. Ubuntu and Fedora are next. And if you rely on accessibility, you don’t get to wait this one out.
So here’s Post 4 of I Want to Love Linux. It Doesn’t Love Me Back.
I’m using Wayland now. Primarily. Not because I love it. Because the fallback is disappearing, and I want to be there helping fix what comes next. GNOME with Orca actually works. KDE and COSMIC are making progress. I’ve talked to the people involved. They care.
But a lot is broken.
MATE — the desktop most blind users preferred — isn’t on Wayland.
ocrdesktop doesn’t work. xdotool is gone.
wlroots compositors still don’t reliably support Orca’s keybindings, especially on laptops.
This isn’t GNOME’s fault. They’re the only reason accessibility on Wayland works at all.
But the old excuses are gone. “Just use Xorg” isn’t going to be an option much longer.
So yeah. I’m a Wayland shill now. Because I’m using it. Because I have to.
And I want to make sure we’re not excluded from what comes next.

𝕏 Canonical Confirms Ubuntu 25.10 Will Drop Support For GNOME On X.Org • Phoronix
「 Support for X11 client apps/games though will continue to be maintained via XWayland but there will no longer be X11 session support for the desktop. Other non-GNOME desktops are unaffected by this move 」
I've easily & smoothly configured KDE Konnect to work in Fluxbox WM

I've been able to configure KDE to my liking so that I feel at home again in the K Desktop Environment.
This is critical because it means that everything from way back in the beginning, decades ago when KDE was released, is still in the current new and fresh version of the K Desktop Environment
It means that the teams which have worked on KDE for the past decades have kept the core of KDE alive
It means that we have an excellent group of programmers, before and current, who have worked on KDE and who have kept KDE beautiful fantastic and magnifique for a wide range of people all over the globe

Since this command...
xfce4-screenshooter -S -d 2 --window -s "$HOME/Pictures/$(date +%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S)_Screenshot2.png"
...segfaults in fluxbox atm I did not bother with a screenshot, because xfce4-screenshooter rocks way too much to use another one

At this moment I'm roughly tuning a very nice FluxBox Desktop in an OpenSource POSIX driven OS.
I'm working on tuning my Desktops Environments in such a way that it doesn't matter whether I run them in Linux or *BSD
That way I'll just fire up the Operating System inject my own configuration for the desktop environment fire up X.org and then start working
FluxBox has been a favorite window / desktop manager of mine a couple of decades ago.
Since it has been written efficient it's blazingly fast
I combine tools that I love from Xfce with FluxBox so that my muscle memory for shortcuts can be used in a super smooth manner

Gave up on #OpenBSD for now as it's too locked down for my liking and I was really wanting to setup #Xorg on the freebie Dell Optiplex 3080 Tower and use #Xterm as my terminal with #Sixel support. So I've installed #FreeBSD and got Xterm running with Sixel support ( graphics in the terminal ). Who's a happy chic that's feeling all nostalgic right now ? That's right moi ! #RunBSD
The KDE team has created a wonderful Network for your Androids it's called Konnect (actually KDE Connect) and the things that it can do are so various that I'll just show you one of them in the included photographs
The ease with which I can control a music 🎵 player that works on one Android from all my devices which run Konnect opens up possibilities which are just marvelous for a sound engineer like me

Still playing around with #OpenBSD on my Desktop PC and to be honest I thought I'd hate it but you know what ? It's actually kind of growing on me. Yes I know I can use #SwayWM with #Wayland but the #Xorg stuff is kind of nostalgically nice, A blast from the past. Also I'm not that worried if I break it as I can just reinstall and start again until I figure it out totally.
What are desktops / terminals and so on are you OpenBSD folk running on your setups ?
