"One study suggests the #Amazon provides around $40,000 of value per square kilometre of standing forest each year, giving it a fair asset value of around $3trn, about 50% more than the retailer that shares its name." "carbon price of $25 per tonne would squeeze out cattle ranchers, since landowners could make more money by allowing reforesting." "the EU’s emissions-trading system charges €80 ($93)"

Just saw this chilling report by @alex of @dair describing Amazon's wage theft and surveillance of its workers:

Sounds exactly like the reverse centaurs that @pluralistic warned us about, such as here:

Wow, all these companies are financing the destruction of the #WhiteHouse: #Apple, #Google / #Alphabet, #Amazon, #Meta, #Microsoft, #TOnline, #HP, #Caterpillar, #LockheedMartin … What a great honor.

I don't think I have ever bought anything off of #Amazon.
I do remember trying, a decade or so ago. I set up an account, and tried to get the thing I was after – but the whole experience was so utterly shit, that not only did I give up, I also put in the non-trivial amount of time it takes to make sure my account was completely deleted.
I fully intend on continuing my tradition of not ever buying anything off of BezosMart.
